OPC UA: Interoperability for Industrie 4.0 and Internet of Things

Visitors of the Hannover Messe 2015 showed great interest for the potential of OPC Unified Architecture.

OPC Foundation Booth

As in previous years, Unified Automation displayed in the joint booth of the OPC Foundation at this year’s Hannover Messe. Numerous visitors showed great interest in OPC UA and the products of Unified Automation.

Together with AIM Germany, the OPC Foundation presented an OPC AIM Companion Specification to create the prerequisites for successfully integrating AutoID into the concept of Industrie 4.0. Unified Automation’s modeling tool UaModeler and  the SDKs support this model and have been used to implement the demonstrator showed at the exhibition stand. This was the only way to develop fully functional prototypes and demonstrators. “The next step, the integration into products, is immensely speeded up by using our SDKs”, says Jürgen Boxberger, Executive Director of Unified Automation. “This is exactly the use case which our products are made for and exactly where we can show our strengths: extremely shortening the time-to-market.”

Thus, the success story continues. The Internet of Things and Services (IoT) and the German initiative Industrie 4.0 are pushing the interest in standardized communication. Unified Automation’s tools and SDKs provide the framework for rapidly implementing of future goals as described in the reference architecture RAMI4.0.
