Unified Automation GmbH - Newsletter December 2011

Dear OPC UA Enthusiast,

regarding OPC Unified Architecture, we are looking back on a successful year 2011. The adoption of OPC UA was immensely increased as many vendors committed to the benefits of the new standard and have created several new UA enabled products. The OPC Foundation hosted many important events and trade shows, where we took part as sponsor to evangelize vendors and end users, promoting the new technology. We attended the corporate booth of the OPC Foundation on major fairs like the HMI in Hannover/Germany and the SPS/IPC/DRIVES in Nuremberg/Germany.
For the next year we are not only continuing our presence at these events, we will promote on many more shows throughout Europe and we will introduce OPC UA in new markets. We will keep you - our customers - constantly informed about further development of the SDK/Toolkit and runtime products. For the upcoming year we have planned new features and products that will boost the adoption and usability of OPC UA for a larger base of developers, one of those will be our new .NET based Client SDK.

On behalf of the entire Unified Automation team I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy and a successful New Year 2012.

Stay tuned on OPC UA. Hope you enjoy reading.

Yours sincerely
Jürgen Boxberger
CEO Unified Automation GmbH

Service release V1.3.1 for our C++ based OPC UA SDK

Certified for Compliance
Unified Automation released version 1.3.1 of the most used C++ SDK for OPC Unified Architecture. As usual the cross-platform server and client frameworks are available as bundle or solely as client or server framework. Besides several smaller bugfixes and enhancements the SDK now includes support for user defined reference types and enumeration types. Also the documentation was updated and the client examples now comes with a showcase for using A&C.

UaModeler V1.1.0 released

The designer for OPC UA information models was now released in a new enhanced version. This tool is targeted to developers of OPC UA Servers and includes the base Server model, the DI model and the PLCopen model. Software architects and developers can create additional models including custom types and instances. From this design the UaModeler can create source code in C++ or ANSI C that can directly be used in our OPC UA Server SDKs. The new version supports user defined enumerated data types and user defined reference types. This UaModeler includes code generation for the new C++ SDK V1.3.1. Get your free evaluation version right now and give it a try.
